England take 8 wicket win despite Jayawardene form to draw series

Kevin Peitersen played a major roll in the English
first innings scoring 151
England have taken an 8 wicket win over Sri Lanka in the second and final test between the two teams, despite Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene getting his second century of the two match series. In this match Jayawardene recieved scores of 105 and 64. England were obviously too strong in their first innings. In England's first innings they had a solid start. In reply to 275 by Sri Lanka in their first innings which included the second golden duck of the series for classy Sri Lankan batsmen Kumar Sangakkara. English captain Andrew Strauss and opening batting partner Alastair Cook delivered an opening partnership of 122, until Strauss was caught behind off the bowling of Tilakratne Dilshan for 61. Alastair Cook teamed up with Jonathan Trott with a partnership of 91 when he was caught for 94, just 6 away from a ton!! Jonathan Trott also went for above 50 going for 64. Kevin Pietersen then showed off his brilliance when he smashed 151 off 165 deliveries which included 16 fours and six sixes. England then got all out for 460. In Sri Lanka's second innings it was practically the same as the 1st innings with the Sri Lankan batsmen delivering a total of all out for 278. England then easily chased down their total of 97 with 8 wickets to spare.
